Analysis of the probability density of the detection signal in an optical coherent system from measurement results using DFB laser diodes

This article presents the analysis of the probability density of the envelope of the intermediate-frequency signal in an optical coherent system. The electrical components were replaced by idealized numerical models, in order to be able to compare the results with theoretical results from the literature. The results from this work agree well with numerical calculations. A numerical simulation will be given in this article. The results make it possible to give much better statements about the statistical properties of laser phase noise. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
