Dyslexia : its neuropsychology and treatment

The book provides a unique combination of contributors from psychology, neurology and education, all of whom present up-to- date reviews of the major disciplines involved in the study of dyslexia. It aims at providing experimental data and theories that contribute to a better understanding of the causes, effects, diagnosis and treatment of dyslexia. Dyslexia is a difficult topic because not all dyslexics present the same symptomatology, a fact that often leads to confusion and controversy. A large part of this volume is dedicated to describing the characteristics, consequences and sub-types of dyslexia. The perspectives of psychological, educational, neurological and sociological concerns reported are in no way meant to be comprehensive, but they are rather directed at giving the reader a sense of the tremendous complexity of the problem that has interfered with the progress in our understanding of dyslexia over the last hundred years.
