DATABASES AND DATA EXCHANGE

The information needed for a complete Traffic Management is located in a great number of databases, most of them used in various settings throughout the nation. The information structure and available standards are both essential for a successful information interchange between national databases as well as for cross-border interchange. An information catalogue is needed, describing all commonly defined information object types. National road databases comprising a substantial part of the road network are also needed. Methods for information interchange, filtering capability and distribution structure are other issues that are discussed during the session. Finally the issue "An organization for information interchange" is discussed. For the covering abstract, see IRRD 490001.
