FAULT DETECTION IN FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM USING OBSERVER

Although automatic flight control systems fairly lighten the pilots' workloads, they may fail as the other systems. In these systems, sensors, actuators and the control surface failures can cause undesirable results to arise. However, it can be possible to tolerate the failures in flight control systems by using what is known in literature as fault tolerant control which makes the operations of systems possible against some types of failures. The fault tolerant control is composed of detection of failures, isolation, and reconfiguration of system stages. Herein, an application is made for the fault detection of a helicopter by observer equipment using lateral movement equations. The application allows user to have an opinion for conditions that can not be directly measured as well as the fault detection based on comprehensive condition estimate.
