Hotel Revenue Management Simulation System (HRMSS)

Developing effective and well-rounded revenue managers is a challenge in the hospitality industry. Revenue management is growing in complexity and there is a lack of modern tools available for training. This results in ineffective traditional education that does not take advantage of new technologies available. Simulations have been advocated as a solution to deliver holistic revenue management education. This paper describes the design and development of a web-based hotel revenue simulation system (HRMSS). The HRMSS developed has been tested in a revenue management training class. Survey results of students using the system showed that the simulations produced desired learning outcomes, especially in decision making and the use
