Induction Machine Modelling for Electromagnetic Transient Program

A method is presented by which an accurate dynamic induction motor model may be developed from a knowledge of standard specification data for the motor. The incorporation of the model into the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) is described. Examples are given of its use in the study of the starting performance of a large induction motor and of the response of the same motor following various electrical faults.
