Utilization of Recycled Carpet Waste Fibers for Reinforcement of Concrete and Soil

Synthetic fibers are used as reinforcement in concr ete and soil to improve their properties. Besides performance enhancement, the use of recycle d fibers for concrete and soil reinforcement offers additional benefits such as low cost raw mat eri ls, resource utilization, and reduced needs for landfilling. This paper discusses the general advantages of fiber reinforcement, and reviews some studies on the use of carpet waste fibers for concrete and soil reinforcement.
