A new future for synthesis

Summary New scientific challenges with great implications for synthetic chemistry are developing rapidly, in particular in Life Sciences, Performance Materials and Nanotechnology. Without a drastic and radical change in approach synthetic chemistry can not be expected to deliver the required contributions, whereas the timely availability of the desired molecules, employing sustainable processes in their manufacturing, has to be at the basis of these new developments.
