Production engineering research and the common market

The Paper is not a comprehensive survey, but merely a basis for discussion. The growth of production engineering research in Common Market countries is discussed against the background of similar developments in America, Russia, Japan and elsewhere. The author suggests that the essential foundations for international co-operation in production engineering research have already been laid in the formation of C.I.R.P. (College International Pour L'Etude Scientifique Des Techniques De Production Mechanique) and refers to the various forms of cooperative action recently undertaken. Some suggestions for specific action in Britain are also included.
