To evaluate the impact of future Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) on the National Airspace System (NAS) operations, researchers need to identify and use different future demand scenarios to investigate the potential benefits of future NextGen improvements and to study the robustness of the future system. Because of the multidimensional nature of the demand problem, if one wants to analyze such sensitivities, the number of potential demand sets that one would be interested in quickly becomes daunting. Our research has produced a fast-time application, called AvDemand, which simplifies time-consuming steps in the demand generation process by providing tools to support automated creation and tailoring of NAS-wide flight schedule and flight plan data based on different demand growth assumptions.
