A carapace of the bradoriid arthropod Mongolitubulus from the Early Cambrian of Greenland

Abstract An almost complete carapace from the late Early Cambrian Bastion Formation of North-East Greenland confirms that problematic spines described as Mongolitubulus henrikseni Skovsted & Peel, 2001 are derived from a bradoriid arthropod. The new specimen bears multiple spine-bases, some of which preserve the ornamentation of rounded scales characteristic of co-occurring isolated spines. It cannot be demonstrated that the type species, M. squamifer, should be restored in a similar fashion, which raises the possibility that the two similar spines might be parts of quite different types of organisms.
