Finite element modeling and analysis of ship tail shaft system

In order to improve the efficiency and quality of finite element analysis, the functions of I-DEAS,HyperMesh and ANSYS were carefully studied and compared. The solid model and finite element model of tail shaft system were built by using these softwares, and the natural modes of vibration of ship tail shaft system in rated speed were analyzed. The rule of ship handling was validated through the example. The research provides an ideal method of finite element analysis in ship tail shaft system and also gives some help to CAD/CAE engineers.
