A CROSS-SECTIONAL INVESTIGATION

Numerous studies in recent years have investigated the reasons individuals give for using alcohol and drugs. Theories about these motives have run the gamut from a unidimensional motive to as many as twelve dimensions. The investigations themselves have varied widely and have ranged from those that merely list the reasons .for drinking to those that attempt to understand the relationship between these various motivations and alcohol use.
