Origin of Highway Tracing Back to Qin-Zhi-Dao and Review on Highway's Influence on Regional Development

Named the as the first " highway" in Chinese history,Qin-Zhi-Dao,the great historical and cultural heritage in the world,still has the practical meaning for the highway development today. The paper explores the historical status of Qin-Zhi-Dao based on historical documents and later researches firstly. Then,it discusses the quick development of highway and points out the problems leading to the imperfect management and operation and declining investment returns. The analysis of the highway development abroad provides a useful reference for the practices in China. Using Principal Component Analysis( PCA),the paper gives suggestions on how to develop the non-roadside business of highway operation. It is concluded that in-depth research and practice in highway connection with city,skill,service area,road administration be carried out in the future to promote the regional economic integration.
