A s Yankee baseball legend, Yogi Berra, once remarked: It is like déjà vu all over againVthe release of the seventh Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA). Since the guidelines were first issued by the US Departments of Health and Human Services and Agriculture back in 1980, Americans have (1) gotten slightly healthier, except for children, (2) gotten significantly bigger (especially children), and (3) gotten very, very confused about what they should be eating. Is there something missing in official government dietary advice, and if so, where did we go wrong?
