A New Directional Filter Bank for 3D Texture Segmentation: Application to Lamellar Microstructure in Titanium Alloys

The paper presents the methodology used to design and implement a new 3D filter, called the CHG filter (Complementary of HourGlass) and the corresponding directional filter bank to detect surface-like singularities in 3D images. This is used for the application of segmenting lamellar colonies in tomographic images of titanium alloy for further microstructural characterization.
