Optimized PLI-aware virtual optical network composition

In this paper, a novel and optimized virtual optical network (VON) composition method, aware of the impact of physical layer impairments (PLIs), is investigated. VONs are composed using Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP), which can provide optimal solutions for VON composition. The quality of the composed VONs is verified by adopting an analytical assessment model of PLIs. In order to improve the performance of the PLI-aware VON composition with MILP, an optimization approach is proposed to integrate the two relatively independent phases, i.e. the VON composition and the quality verification of VON.
