Joint rate and power control based on game theory in cognitive radio networks

A non-cooperative joint rate and power control algorithm based on game model (NRPG) for wireless communication is formulated in this paper. It is shown that the proposed algorithm is well convergent with respect to the transmit power and rate and the Nash equilibrium solution (NES) for either the transmit rate or the transmit power is finally achieved. A pricing function that relates to both transmit rate and power is introduced for improving the Pareto efficiency and fairness of the obtained NES, which is distinguished from other works. Another NRPG model with the novel pricing function (NRPGP) is proposed in this paper. Simulation results show the NRPGP algorithm is more effective than NRPG algorithms, which reflects that the pricing function improves the NES Pareto optimality.
