Photonics Concept to Design Responsive Radiocommunication Jammer of Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices

In this paper, a new concept to design responsive radio communication jammer based on microwave photonics approach is proposed and discussed. After studying the common design principles and distinctive features of the available all-electronics radio communication jammers we highlight a microwave-photonics-based radio communication jammer including optoelectronic processor with all-optical processing. To confirm the performability and advantages of the proposed concept, a MATLAB-based proof-of-concept modeling experiments are carried out using realistic digital radio communication signals that allow us to determine optimal structure of the optical delay line inside the optoelectronic processor and demonstrate the device's reaction rate as small as near $1\ \mu\mathrm{s}$.
