The Application of Data Mining in Universities Performance Evaluation

All universities attempt to construct the performance evaluation system to increase their competitive power and the comprehensive strength.This article takes performance evaluation and balanced scorecard as the theoretical instruction,uses the experience of university performance evaluation both at home and abroad for reference,and establishes the index system of university performance evaluation,the index of university performance evaluation comprehensively considers four aspects including finance performance,effect of school management,inside management,study and improvement.Through the application of clustering method by the index system that has been built,it analyses the index data of performance evaluation of 72 universities from 2002 to 2006 horizontal and vertical respectively which are subordinated by the Ministry of Education,this helps to find where the problems are,the evaluation results are mainly used to help administrative personnel in all levels to rapidly obtain the accurate information about the operation of the universities,by using clustering method,we can classify similar universities into the same category according to the evaluation index,carry on clustering to the universities in order to provide basis for analyzing use,the data to construct a supportive policy-making environment that is advantageous to the university performance evaluation.
