Optimisation of Spectrum and Energy Efficiency in UAV-Enabled Mobile Relaying Using Bisection and PSO Method

Wireless communication systems, which uses low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles provides cost-effective and flexible wireless connectivity. This paper reviews a mobile relaying system enabled by a DAV, where a UAV moving in an energy-efficient circular trajectory is deployed to assist in the communication from a ground source to a ground destination with their direct links blocked. By assuming that the UAV employs time-division duplexing (TDD) and decode-and-forward (DF) relaying, the spectrum-efficiency and energy-efficiency of the considered system is maximised by jointly optimising the communication time allocation of the UAV with its speed and trajectory using standard bisection and PSO method.
