VANET Group Sizing for GFDM Relaying in Realistic Vehicular Networks

In this paper, we present recent results from implementing a Decode and Forward (DF) cooperative relay system, coupled with the utilization of GFDM as an efficient PHY layer waveform for unification with the anticipated 5G network. Through simulation over realistic vehicular channel models, VANET group sizing is analyzed and demonstrates a trade-off between allowing higher diversity through extra relays and their ability to be effectively used in this harsh channel. An upper limit is placed on the VANET group size for specific conditions.
