Free Vibrational Analysis of Sandwich Conical Shells with Free Edges

An analysis is made of axisymmetric and unsymmetric free vibrational modes of right‐circular conical or cylindrical shells with free edges. The shells may be either homogeneous or symmetrical sandwich, with facings and core either isotropic or specially orthotropic. Numerical results for a Rayleigh‐Ritz solution are presented and compared with experimental data for conical frustum shells of homogeneous isotropic material and of sandwich construction with specially orthotropic facings and core.
