Water system integration of a brewhouse.

Abstract Water system integration, which treats the water utilization processes in an enterprise as an organic whole to consider how to allocate water in a water system, shows remarkable effectiveness in saving freshwater and reducing wastewater discharge. It is significant to apply water system integration to beer industries, which consume a mass of freshwater and generate vast wastewater. In this paper, according to the characteristics of beer production, an optimal water network is put forward after analyzing water-using conditions of a certain beer plant. With such water system integration, 8% of freshwater can be saved and 13% of wastewater can be reduced.
