The present invention relates to an encryption apparatus and method for supporting low power encryption capable of providing a high speed block encryption algorithm for mobile devices. For this, the encryption apparatus according to the present invention comprises: a user interface for receiving a plain text to be encrypted and a master key from a user; a key scheduler for generating a round key from the master key; an initial converter for generating initial round function values from the plain text; a round function processor for processing repeatedly the round function by using the round key and the initial round function values; and a final converter for generating a coded message from result values of the round function in the final round processed by the round function processor.
