Study on the Potential Energy of Forest Fuel in Daxingan Mountain, Heilongjiang Province

The energy release of forest fuel is decided by its biomass loading and heat value, and has a close relation with its moisture content. The moisture content of fuel is affected by the weather conditions. For instance, when there is much rainfall precipitation, with high relative humidity, low temperature and low wind speed, the moisture content of fuels will be high, and vice versa. Different fuel types have diverse biomass loadings and heat values. The litter in surface is combustible and other fuel types are nonflammable or non combustible. Diversified fuel types have different amounts, structures, physical and chemical characteristics, and heat values. The conifer is more energetic than the broadleaf. Big branch releases more energies than small branch and grass. The variation of available energy is also due to the difference of tree species composition, age, and site conditions.
