Location processing method for 3gpp mobile communication system and paging method using the same

A method for processing location registration in a 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project) mobile communication system and a paging method using the same are provided to minimize the power consumption of UEs and a waste of radio resources, due to location registration, by applying a wide location registration area and a narrow location registration area respectively for a fast moving UE and a slowly moving UE. A UE receives the system information of a new cell whenever cells are changed(401). Based on the received system information, the UE confirms whether TAs(Tracking Areas) or eNB(eNode B) areas have been changed. In this case, if the UE judges that location registration is required, the UE transmits a location update request message to the present eNB(402). The eNB transmits a TA update request message to an aGW(access Gateway)(403). Also the eNB transmits a UE context removal request message to a neighbor eNB if the UE is moving slowly(406). Receiving the TA update request message, the aGW updates the context of the UE, and transmits an update response(404,405). The neighbor eNB removes the context of the UE according to the UE context removal request message, and transmits a context removal response(407,408). The present eNB updates the context of the UE, and transmits a location update response to the UE(409,410).
