Imaging of Lung Structure Using Holographic Electromagnetic Induction

Early lung cancer detection with suitable treatment can significantly reduce cancer-related death rates. This paper presents a single frequency holographic electromagnetic induction (HEI) imaging method for small lung tumor detection in human thorax models. A numerical system is developed to study the feasibility of early lung tumor detection. The system includes various realistic tumors within a thorax model and a HEI measurement model. Simulation results show that various arbitrary shaped lung tumors with random sizes and locations can be identified in the thorax images. The proposed protocol has the potential for the further instantiation of lung structure.
