Research and Implementation of the Firmware Architecture in Large-Scale Parallel Systems

Firmware is a key part of the IA64 system architecture. It performs platform initialization, configuration ,test and manages the booting of OS,and also provides runtime procedure calls to software. It is an important issue for designing a large-scale parallel computer system. In this paper, a kind of firmware architecture of parallel computer systems based on IA-64 is given and analyzed.
