Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS) can measure power grid data synchronously in the time scale of millisecond, but the large amount of data it produced determines that it cannot take the place of SCADA presently. WAMS and SCADA should complement each other in practice, it is very necessary for WAMS to exchange data and information with Energy Management System (EMS) and correlative application systems. But now it is difficult for WAMS to share information with other applications effectively since the lack of a uniform information model. After deeply exploring the IEC 61970: Energy Management System Application Program Interface (EMS-API) part 303: CIM and its modeling principles, a CIM-based information model for WAMS is proposed according to the characteristics of WAMS and its applications in power system, while the extended CIM-based classes as well as its attributes are also elaborately defined. Finally an electric power information integration architecture based on the message middleware is presented to demonstrate its applying prospects.
