Use of formamide to improve amplification of HLA DQα sequences

Dot-blot analysis of DNA amplified by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using allele-specific oligonucleotide (ASO) probes promises to be a useful assay for identity and disease association studies. This laboratory is examining the amplification and typing of the HLA DQα gene as a possible means of forensic analysis. A kit for typing the DQα gene is now commercially available
