Biologically Inspired Approach to Autonomous Systems

The historical intelligent robots tended to try to model humans’ thought and imitate humans’ intelligent action or behavior. However, it has been known that, traditional logical treatment or classical AI techniques do not have enough power to realize such a behavior on the robots. And also, it has been found that the most important point of the robots is the ability to cope with various situations in the usual real environment, which seems easily realized in human or animals. In this sense, the basic necessary function of the robot which we have to study is not a high level judgement of the human, but the ability to survive in the real environment. The necessary intelligence of the robot is also located at here.
