SIMULATION OF TURBULENT FLOWS FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS: A FLUID ENGINEER'S VIEW

Industrial fluid dynamics has undergone a major revolution in recent years. Ten years ago most optimisation of fluid dynamic components in industry required expensive and time-consuming experiments in models, prototypes or test rigs. Today the design of many varied fluid engineering components is undertaken with the help of CFD codes solving the 3D Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations, with substantially less need for prototype testing.
