A computer-based substation switching scheme

This paper describes a digital computer based substation switching scheme which employs generalized rules for interlocking and sequence switching. The scheme can handle different configurations of substations which are recognized from the input data that describes the interconnections of switches. The scheme is, therefore, applicable to substations of all practical configurations. It also considers factors such as, generation and load balance, ratings of equipment, and continuity of power supply. The concepts described are general and can be easily extended to the switching of an entire power system from the system control center.
