Information diffusion on twitter: the case of the 2013 iranian presidential election

In this paper we analyzed information propagation on Twitter during the 2013 Iranian presidential election. We studied the most influential users based on their retweet communication network. Our results show that conversation about Iran on Twitter in Persian is mostly conducted by micro-celebrities while official media, news agencies, and journalists are the most retweeted entities when examining both English and Persian tweets.
