THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND WAREHOUSING PERFORMANCE

This paper presents the results of a survey of the public and contract warehouse industry. The research provides an overview of the extent of information utilization within the industry. Further, the results provide confirmation of a proposed linkage between information technology and warehousing performance. Firms utilizing more warehousing information technologies had significantly higher/better performance in the areas of quality improvements, cycle time reductions, and productivity improvements.
