Fractal analysis of Sn-W mineralization from central Iberia; insights into the role of fracture connectivity in the formation of an ore deposit

Sampling of late Hercynian quartz veins from Central Iberia has demonstrated a power-law distribution of vein thickness, which changes systematically from unmineralized to mineralized sites. These changes are related to the connectivity of the underlying vein networks and, hence, their potential role in Sn-W-mineralizing processes. Simple percolation models are used to explain these changes. Thus, the analysis of vein thickness distribution provides an additional guide to prospecting in vein systems.
