Simple algorithm for the atmospheric correction of reflectance images

A simple algorithm for the atmospheric correction was developed for the calculation of reflectance images. The proposed method, for a clear atmosphere, is based on a simplification of the radiative transfer equation for multiple scattering in order to calculate the spectral reflectance, including single scattering. Furthermore, the lowest pixel value of each spectral band is related to the backscattered solar spectral radiation towards the satellite. Ground truth data of an experimental area were used to evaluate the spectral reflectance calculations. A visual example of the use of the proposed method is also included.
