The risk factor analysis for software project based on the interpretative structural modelling method

Risk analysis is the basic work of risk management for software project. Due to the complexity and particularity of software project, the risk factors are too messy to be grasped quickly by the personnel. The risk factors for the software project risk management have been identified from the human, technology, and process three angles in the paper. The interpretative structural modeling method is introduced to analyze the recognition results to find the perplexing potential relationship among risk factors. The interpretative structural model for risk factors is constructed. Case study shows that it integrates 26 risk factors into 7 risk elements and outlines the framework of risk analysis. It is not only conducive to the relevant personnel to better understand the complex relationships between risk factors, but also provides a simple and convenient knowledge expression method for modeling the software project risk factor analysis and it also provides methods guidance to similar analysis of relevant fields.
