Syntax of IIPL (Interactive Image Processing Language)

Most of the image processing operations defined in Chapter 2 were specified in terms of mathematical symbols. Mathematical notation may be regarded as a language, which happens to be very convenient for describing certain types of operation but is much less satisfactory for others. For example, the procedure for making a cup of coffee is not one that readily lends itself to mathematical formalism. This is not an isolated instance. Even the simpler component process of finding a teaspoon on an otherwise clear tabletop is not one that is well suited to mathematical description.
