A sample carrier device for tensile characterization of ultra-thin and small biomembrane

We have previously developed a tensile characterization system of ultra-thin and small biomembrane. In this system, we should align the membrane at the tip of the force sensor clamp having microhole array to fix the membrane sample. Since the throughput of the measurement depends on the alignment time, the method of sample alignment enables us to fix the sample with the short time of several minutes is highly desired. Therefore, we propose a carrier device utilizing a hollow fiber that can put the membrane sample. As a result, the alignment time was less than 1 minutes which was approximately 10 times faster than the previous methodee.
