Battery Energy Storage Power Station Based Suppression Method for Power System Broadband Oscillation

With the integration of large-scale wind power/photovoltaic generations, the applying of high-voltage direct current transmission in the power grid and the growth of power electronic interfaced load, the characteristics of power systems tend to become more power-electronized, and the characteristics of power electronic equipment make the system oscillations cover a wider frequency band. To suppress the broadband oscillation becomes a new challenge for the safe and stable operation of the power system. The battery energy storage power station has flexible regulation characteristics, and by optimizing its dynamic characteristics, it can improve the safe and stable operation capability of power systems. In this paper, an adaptive control branch which is based on the phase-locking principle is added to the current control loop of the energy converter to optimize the dynamic characteristics of energy storage power station. By optimizing the dynamic characteristics of the energy storage converter, the broadband oscillation in power system can be effective suppressed. Timedomain simulation results of a case system implemented in MATLAB/Simulink validate the correctness of analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
