Signals selection of SVC device for damping oscillation

This paper proposes Eigen value analyses to assess the most appropriate input signals (stabilizing signal) for supplementary damping control of SVC. The approaches considered in selecting most receptive signal to a mode of the Inter-area oscillation are: controllability and observability based on Hankel Singular Value (HSV) and non-minimum phase system based on Right-Half Plane zeroes. The usefulness of the proposed method of selection signals is demonstrated on IEEE 145-Bus Power system.
