FOC and DTC comparison in PMSM for railway traction application

This paper presents a detailed comparison between two control strategies, field oriented control (FOC) and direct-torque control (DTC), in permanent-magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) for railway traction applications. The analysis is initially carried out in simulation, and some experimental results obtained from a 100 kW test bench are also included.
