Algorithmics of Motion

Abstract : The main goal of our research program is to develop the mathematical concepts and algorithms for performing a wide range of operations on motions of physical objects, including: capture, representation, synthesis, segmentation, editing, optimization, simulation, and execution. In addition, we have focused on the support tools that are critical for understanding and analyzing physical and synthetic agents interacting in a dynamic environment. These include the underlying data structures, the architecture, and the analysis and synthesis tools. The term Algorithmics of Motion refers to the overarching framework, the mathematical concepts, the algorithms and the tools for this work. This document presents an executive summary of our work over the last five years from October 1995 to September 2000.
