Who is "best" able to create effective Web pages and engage in multimedia-an engineer, a graphic designer, or a technical communicator? The paper shows that new technology is blurring the distinctions that have traditionally existed among these (and other) professions. These unclear boundaries are now creating both competitive and collaborative possibilities, depending on one's perspective. The paper discusses recent technology and its impact on one's work and working relationship with colleagues in other disciplines. It also re-examines the future of what one needs to know and what one needs to do to produce quality communication products.
