Analysis and Implementation of A LLC Resonant Converter for Magnetron Modulator

This paper proposes a new MOSFET-based topology for a magnetron transmitter using a LLC-high frequency resonant converter. This converter produces 4 KV 300 ns pulses which are directly applied to the magnetron. The pulse width and pulse repetition frequency (PRF) is adjustable over a wide range. The converter operation is analyzed and the prototype results are provided. Considerable improvement is achieved in comparison with previously used PFN modulator.
