Fault Detection through Magnetic Field Measurement of Permanent Magnet Machines with Reversed Structure

The aims of this work is to appreciate the degree of relevance of the use the external magnetic field for diagnosis applications in the field of electrical traction provided by external rotor permanent magnets synchronous machines. A numerical modeling using the finite element method has been developed to simulate the behavior of the machine in operating generator in healthy and in faulty modes. Furthermore, the principle of the method of measuring the external magnetic field and the optimization of the magnetic sensors positions are explained. The study was validated by an experimental approach.
