Three Issues on Object-Oriented Technology Application in Onboard Software Certification

Many onboard software developers began to consider the use of OOT in aviation system. But all software development methods have advantages and disadvantages, OOT is no exception. Safety-critical designers tend to use proven technologies, and DO-178B was established prior to the widespread use of OOT, so OOT application in onboard software is still being questioned. Combining the characteristics of OOT and DO-178B requirements, this paper discusses three potential certification issues of application OOT in onboard software and proposes corresponding solutions and countermeasures for each problem.
