Chemometrics and Statistics: (h) Optimisation Strategies

Optimisation has a significant role in analytical science. There are many reasons for finding an optimum. For example, it may be important to maximise the extraction efficiency of a compound from a matrix; there may be a large number of factors involved in the extraction procedure. Other examples involve improving chromatographic separations and optimising the factors that influence signal intensity in atomic spectroscopy.
